This Advent, we wanted to find a way of involving the community in creating a special display at the heart of Moldgreen.  We have received the support of local resident, Sue Cockcroft, who has spent many hours creating the banners which will eventually read, Hope, Peace, Joy and Love and will be attached to the display week on week throughout Advent.  Local schools, uniform groups and other community groups are all invited to contribute to the display with artwork, stories, poems or any reflection that answers,

What brings you hope?

Where do you find peace?

Where do you experience joy?

How do you know you are loved?

One of the headteachers tells me that a young child has poignantly contributed, “I hope the virus will go away for Christmas so we can hold hands.”   This is so immensely touching but speaks of people needing an outlet to express their feelings this year in particular – I hope this display can be one option for doing that.

All of the contributions will be attached to each banner as they are received and it is my hope that by Christmas, we will have a beautiful display that leads down into the nativity scene that will be erected as its base.

Please do join in and support this venture by contributing your own stories, poems or artwork; just remember that it needs to be somehow weatherproof, whether that means laminating it or even placing it into a polypocket to keep the worst of the weather off and protect your work.  Feel free to watch the video below for more detail:
